Vector Photonics, founded in 2020, is a spin out from the University of Glasgow and who’s patented award-winning technology unlocks the next generation of semiconductor-lasers.

The company is a fabless laser supplier of disruptive technology to multiple markets and will concentrate its resources on development of IP and the core technologies to create leading edge products and work with leading outsourcing companies to deliver volume products into the market.

Embedding 2D-photonic crystal gratings within the laser they create enhanced surface emitted power, wavelength control, beam quality and steering.

You don’t have to be perfect for this role, we are open to a range of experience. What we value is that spirit of adventure and willingness to bring your experience so far and develop or demonstrate this in an engaging and collaborative manner with a willingness to contribute and develop. That said, ideally, we are looking for the following:

    1. Industrial fab experience
    2. Real world experience of semiconductor processing including III-V etch, Dielectric Deposition, Process etch/deposition chemistry, materials analysis, measurement techniques and production equipment set up. Able to develop control plans and procedures, establish new tool set specifications and have high level of understanding of materials processing.
    3. Relevant commercial experience and understanding of process characterization tools, SPC, SPM, CAD/Mask design and analytical techniques for process analysis.
    4. Practical experience in Design of Experiments, Failure Analysis, 8-D and Lean manufacturing techniques. Six Sigma, Kaizen or other lean manufacturing procedures.
    5. Experience in semiconductor process engineering and the ability to provide input to enable understanding of key processes options for III-V semiconductor process development and manufacturing.
    6. Familiarity with Industry practices, industry standards and reliability and qualification criteria for III-V devices or silicon photonics devices. (E.g. GR-468, SEMI, JEDEC, IEC and ANSI standards).

Vector Photonics’ technology has won multiple awards from the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) and Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng), as well as being accepted onto the RBS accelerator in Glasgow. Their team has over 50 years of R&D experience as well as over 50 Years of commercial experience in III-V semiconductor photonics.
