We are always looking for enthusiastic and experienced Senior Electronics Engineers to develop innovative products for our clients in markets ranging from Smart Metering, Oil & Gas, to Life Sciences and Medical. These are high-profile opportunities to demonstrate your talent in complex technical environments.
Experience of developing electronic designs including proof-of-concept to prototype to full production is essential along with working as the technical point of contact with customers both internal and external. You will work on technically demanding projects with the opportunity to remain hands on developing ideas into tangible products in short timescales.
Typically, you will be required to lead the prototyping and testing activities on your projects while also be coaching and supporting the more junior engineers in those activities. You will help generate accurate cost estimates, write proposals and support pitch meetings for new electronics design and development projects. A clear understanding of both technical and commercial limitations is required. You may also be asked to support business development activities at trade shows, conferences etc and identify new business opportunities on behalf of the company.
Essential Technical skills:
- Significant demonstrable commercial experience of developing electronic systems
- Schematic capture, PCB design, simulation
- Microcontroller system design
- Flexibility to interpret a variety of datasheets, protocol documents, design specifications
- High level of competence to reliably deliver prototype and production designs that meet or exceed specifications
- Investigate, develop and utilise new technologies, components and techniques, processes and tools
- Be comfortable creating customer-ready documentation and reports
- Regularly use your analogue and digital electronics skills to design, build and test complex electronics modules and systems
- Able to identify and clearly communicate technical issues, come up with solutions to minimise impact on project timelines.
- Proficient in using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analysers, and other test equipment to troubleshoot and validate electronic designs
The following skills are an advantage:
- Design experience with system interconnects RS232, USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet etc.
- Power supply design
- High speed digital design
- Wireless modules/RF experience (e.g. Wifi, BLE/Bluetooth, RFID)
- Design experience with FPGAs, CPLDs and DSPs
- Verification of prototypes and transfer to manufacture
- EMC testing, failure analysis
- Experience of highly regulated development processes, e.g. medical devices, ATEX
- Proficient in using design tools like Altium and Orcad
- Advanced user of MS applications including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering or related subject
