Key Responsibilities

● Develop comprehensive system architectures for complex mechatronic systems, considering mechanical components, electrical circuits, control algorithms, and software integration.
● Design and implement control algorithms for precise motion control and feedback systems.
● Develop firmware for microcontrollers and other embedded systems to interact with sensors and actuators within the mechatronic system.
● Own system design documentation and refine integration processes for collaboration with other engineering disciplines, to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
● Drive continuous innovation by exploring new technologies and methodologies, proposing solutions to enhance product performance, reliability and desirability.
● Translate product and business requirements into technical requirements and system designs.
● Travel when required to company headquarters in Los Angeles and key suppliers.

Required Qualifications/Experience:

● BEng/MEng in Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering or related subjects.
● 5+ years’ experience developing electro-mechanical products.
● Knowledge of microcontrollers like Arduino, Raspberry Pi and STM32.
● Experience integrating control systems, sensors and actuators in industrial applications.
● Knowledge of protocols like I2C, SPI, UART, and wireless communication (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) for robot-to-robot or robot-to-human interaction.
● Understanding of computer vision and power management.
● Demonstrated success developing mains powered industrial products suitable for manufacture.
● Ability to visualize and communicate designs and technical proposals effectively.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

● Experience with motion-based systems and/or multi-degree-of-freedom robot arms including components like grippers and actuators.
● Experience implementing sensors for real-time feedback and closed-loop control, including position, force or vision-based feedback for precise motion control.
● Experience with industrial automation and PLCs.
● Experience with ROS for developing modular and scalable robotic applications.
● Understanding of languages like Python, C++ for coding robotic systems.
● Experience with digital twin technology.
● Design for regulated markets (medical, automotive, defence).
● Motion, vision and/or control (camera, sensor and actuator integration).
● Understanding of user safety and risk analysis.
