Enigma People Solutions is recruiting an experienced Optoelectronic Engineer to take a leadership role in exciting start up business that promises to usher in a new era of optical computing power.

Our client is creating the next-generation of hardware for AI acceleration using 3D optical computing – to compute at faster speeds and at greater scales than ever before, all whilst consuming less energy than traditional electronics.

You will be joining a growing multidisciplinary team spanning optics, optoelectronics, digital & analogue electronics, embedded software and AI/ML algorithms, that is growing to become world leaders in this exciting new era of computing!


JOB DESCRIPTION
As an optoelectronic engineer, you will help to develop the critical high-speed and energy-efficient optoelectronic components in our client's optical processor, taking responsibility for designing, building, and testing bespoke modules for highly parallelised optical data transmission and processing. Working closely with a team of talented engineers, you will have the opportunity to take a project all the way from first prototype to a production system. 


ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
● Design energy-efficient optical transmitter and receivers suitable for optical computing.
● Work closely with suppliers and external partners.
● Work with other team members to build a complete optical computing system.
● Contribute to the system architecture design and performance optimisation.
● Collaborate in group activities, including participating in calls and meetings, and representing the company at events. 


REQUIREMENTS
● A degree in optoelectronic engineering or a related field. 
● 3+ years of relevant industry working experience.
● Experience with any of the following:
○ High-speed optical communications.
○ Low-power optical transceiver design.
○ LiDAR design.
○ Low-power optoelectronics such as laser drivers, amplifiers and data converters, ROSA/TOSA.
○ Experience with analogue or mixed signal PCB-level design and development.
○ Good programming skills in Python or Matlab
