Our client is an independent supplier of photonics and associated technologies to the UK scientific and industrial market. They are the exclusive distributor of the leading manufacturers of scientific and industrial laser systems, research grade spectroscopy solutions, optical instruments, cutting edge microscopy and imaging systems, together with optics, laser diagnostics and detectors for the photonics sector. Their market reach spans all UK scientific research institutes as well as a large number of industrial sectors.

The company is now seeking a highly motivated individual to join their Edinburgh team t enjoy a position that will involve testing, installation, repair and customisation of a range of optoelectronic equipment, including small OEM laser systems to large state of the art, custom high power laser systems.  Training will be primarily based in Edinburgh, with occasional visits abroad for specific training courses.

Owing to the nature of the position, a certain amount fieldwork will be required (estimated at 2-4 days per month) on a consistent basis and the successful applicant will be required to travel throughout the UK and Ireland.

The successful candidate will possess formal qualifications in optics, electronics or a related discipline and will ideally have at least two years hands-on experience with laser systems and optoelectronics assemblies.
