We are looking for a motivated and tenacious sales engineer (or engineer who poses the right attributes and would be interested in transferring into sales) who can find and penetrate new and often difficult to enter accounts. It’s essential you are capable technically and are able to connect with and support customer’s engineering teams since they are the key product specifiers and your aim is to become a trusted advisor to them. Many design wins into this application area are long term and develop slowly, therefore it’s important to have patience and a willingness to put effort into supporting customers through long development phases.

You will be given the freedom to work in the way that suits you best remotely / hybrid or in office but a commitment to spend time in the office collaborating with colleagues is required at a minimum of 2 days per fortnight.

Package will include but is not limited to:

  • Base to be negotiated 
  • Highly rewarding commission structure
  • £4.5k Car allowance
  • £3k discretionary company bonus

This strategically important position will own the sales growth plan for  Industrial Fibre Optics customers for the company. This includes applications such as Aerospace, Defence, Subsea, Industrial control, and HVDC systems. Expansion into Fibre Optic Sensing may also be a potential growth area to expand the Company’s markets. Using technical and commercial knowledge, you will solve customer challenges through advising on fibre optic products and systems to meet their needs. And through supply chain partnerships, ensure the correct components and sub-assemblies meet all expectations to deliver customer success.

As the Key Account Manager you will already be an application domain expert in Industrial Fibre Optics.  The expectation is that in this role you will spend your time identifying target customers, networking to build market connections, and applying a consultative sales approach to increase business in this application area. Using your expertise fully to understand customers’ needs you will work with stakeholders to develop a strategy and framework with the aims of:

  1. Growing sales of Fibre Optics Components to the application area by:
    1. Developing growth strategies with the Marketing Director and Sales Director.
    2. Supporting existing customers both technically and commercially.
    3. Developing new business with existing customers through the tenacious discovery of new opportunities and the application of key account development methods.
    4. Identifying new customers within the application area, planning for long-term growth.
    5. Identifying and bringing on board new additional suppliers (manufacturers) of industrial fibre optic system components to enable sales growth.
  2. Support the “Networks” team who would sell Test and Measurement equipment into Industrial Fibre Optics customers
