Enigma People Solutions is recruiting an Electronics Hardware Engineer to become an important part of a leading photonics technology company based in Edinburgh that is a trusted partner to research teams around the world and is set to double from 16 to 30 people in 2023.

In this role you will work closely with the development team, including optical, mechanical, software and electronic engineers to design and improve the performance and reliability of our novel high specification laser systems.

You will be responsible for the design and development of electronic sub-systems from specification to component level and continuous improvement through testing, measurement, characterisation and problem solving.

Key requirements:

  • A good understanding of fundamental theories and experience with simulation environments.
  • Experienced and interested in low-noise circuit design, PCB layout, PCB design considerations, micro-controllers, ACD, DAC, FPGA
  • Experienced in the measurement and characterisation of opto-mechanical and opto-electronic devices
  • Knowledge of component testing and systems testing
  • Able to communicate concepts effectively
  • Good SMD Soldering and practical assembly abilities
  • Driven, detailed and self-motivated
  • A right first-time mindset with a passion for innovation and improvement
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient at problem solving
